Cette chanson profondément spirituelle est toujours populaire dans l’État Bengale-occidental. Bûcher funéraire est associé à la vie hindou en Inde. Malgré la question d’environnement et de déboisement, ce rituel de bûcher existe encore ici bien qu’en forme de crémation électrique pour les éviter. On témoigne une sorte de sens bizarre lorsqu’on participe à un rituel de bûcher de cadavre où change le cadavre en une poignée de cendres blanches – pourquoi avoir très envie des biens terrestres où on doit quitter seul laissant tout derrière lui ?
